Challenge: Design a cutting-edge training facility for a premier women’s collegiate athletic program.
Performance: The facility’s design reflects the power and grace of the athletes who use it and provides the competitive edge necessary to compete in the nation’s most demanding collegiate athletic conference.
Description: This new, 40,000-square-foot facility houses the women’s gymnastic team as well as a weight room for all of women’s athletics. The facility includes offices for gymnastic coaches, women’s athletic director and staff, and the women’s basketball coach and staff. This building features a 14,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art gymnastic practice gymnasium. Winner of AIA and athletic association awards, the Bev Lewis Center is designed to reflect the power and grace of gymnastics as well as provide a welcoming presence on Stadium Drive. Fennell Purifoy worked in association with BDMD Architects of Indianapolis.
