The historic Ridgeway Hotel, vacant since the 1970s, is now redeveloped as senior housing through a mixed finance effort utilizing low income housing tax credits. Constructed in the 1930s, The Ridgeway remains the tallest building in Monticello and features American Indian motif custom tile work and modern brick detailing. The adaptive reuse as senior housing is a very good fit for the mid-rise structure with its elevator, original residential use and generous lobby. The adjacent Victorian era building was also redeveloped and is connected on multiple levels for universal accessibility.
